Privacy Policy – Szlak Jelonków

The Szlak Jelonków application (hereinafter: “the App”) does not collect, store, or share any personal data of the user. It does not require registration or an account. It contains no advertisements or analytics tools.

Location

The App requests access to your device’s location (GPS) in order to show your current position on the trail map and to detect when you approach a deer sculpture (within 30 metres). Your location is processed locally on your device for the map and proximity detection; it leaves the device only in one case – when you request a walking route, the coordinates are sent to the navigation server to calculate the route in real time. The App does not use background location (neither on Android nor iOS) – position is read only while the App is actively in use.

Data stored locally

The App stores only the following on your device:

  • the list of discovered deer sculptures with discovery dates,
  • your preferences (language, theme, navigation profile),
  • a vector map file of the Jelenia Góra area (~10 MB) downloaded on first launch, allowing the map to work offline afterwards.

You can delete this data at any time in “Settings → Reset progress” (discovery progress), “Settings → Re-download map” (local map cache), or by uninstalling the App.

Connections to external services

The App connects to the following services to fetch data required for its operation:

  • Self-hosted content server (CDN) – fetching the list of deer sculptures, descriptions, images, and the vector map file of the Jelenia Góra area (map data sourced from OpenStreetMap),
  • Self-hosted navigation server – calculating walking routes to a chosen sculpture (OSRM software, OpenStreetMap data).

Each connection is a standard HTTP request – your IP address is visible to the infrastructure provider, but the App does not transmit any other identifying data along with it. The App does not use any external advertising or analytics tools, and does not share data with third parties.

Device permissions

Android:

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION – required to display your position on the map and detect proximity to a sculpture.
  • INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE – required to download the map on first launch, sculpture images, and navigation routes.

iOS:

  • NSLocationWhenInUseUsageDescription – location access only while the App is in use (foreground). The App does not request background location access.

Children

The App is intended for all age groups and does not knowingly collect any data from children.

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, distributed under the ODbL license. Vector tiles generated from OSM data using the tilemaker tool.
