He guards the branch of the Wrocław University of Economics that trains economists in Jelenia Góra. He was the first little deer in the city, and the whole trail began with him.
Fun fact: The Wrocław University of Economics branch in Jelenia Góra – the Faculty of Economics, Management and Tourism – is the largest academic centre in the Karkonosze. On the night of 6/7 September 2021 Ekonomek was stolen: neither the cameras nor the watchman helped. The culprit was reportedly found, the figurine was not. The one you meet by the entrance today is a replica, put in place on 11 October 2022.

It trains staff for tourism, hospitality and regional economics, and students have field classes, including in the mountains, in their curriculum.
The theft and the return
On the night of 6/7 September 2021 Ekonomek was stolen. Neither the cameras nor the watchman helped – the culprit was reportedly found, the figurine was not. The spot by the entrance stayed empty for a year, until a replica was put in place on 11 October 2022. Other deer have gone missing for a while too – Podróżniczek was away for repair in the summer of 2025 – but Ekonomek is the only one whose figure today is another cast of the same sculpture.
