Podróżniczek
Podróżniczek – a wanderer with a suitcase marked JG. He has just stepped off the train and in his colourful scarf rushes into town. A local returning from a trip to the Rudawy Janowickie, or a newcomer on a city break in Jelenia Góra or a getaway to the Karkonosze Mountains? You decide.
Fun fact: Jelenia Góra Główna station was built in 1866, when the city was connected to the Riesengebirgsbahn (the Karkonosze foothills railway). The neo-Gothic station building is one of the most beautiful railway monuments in Lower Silesia. In the summer of 2025 Podróżniczek was gone from the station for over a month: the damaged figure was taken away for repair on 24 June and returned to its place on 31 July.

Podróżniczek is the wanderer of the Szlak Jelonków trail, who with a suitcase marked JG and a colourful scarf waits in front of the Main Station in Jelenia Góra. A newcomer or a local? Perhaps he has just returned from a trip into the Karkonosze, or is only beginning to explore the city.
Where to find Podróżniczek
The figure stands by the Main Station in Jelenia Góra, where most tourists begin their adventure with the city and the Karkonosze. It is a natural first or last stop on the Szlak Jelonków trail. In June 2025 the figure was removed because of damage and came back on 31 July – so if you looked for it by the station that summer and found nothing, you were not in the wrong place.
