17 little deer of Szlak Jelonków

Coat of arms of Centrum district

The centre of Jelenia Góra is the heart of the Szlak Jelonków trail – it has the most deer, as many as 17, scattered around the Town Hall Square, the old town and the main promenade. It is also the most convenient place to start: you will visit most of the figures on a single walk.

The old town and Town Hall Square

Jelenia Góra has held town rights since 1288, and its showpiece is the Town Hall Square with the town hall surrounded by historic arcaded townhouses. It is here, by the Town Hall, that Rajcuś keeps watch with the city's coat of arms, beside Przewodniczek, and a bit further on Czytyś by the Książnica Karkonoska library. Around the market square stretches a promenade full of cafés, shops and townhouses.

Culture and education in the centre

The centre concentrates the city's cultural and school life. By the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Theatre poses Teatralny, in front of the Jelenia Góra Culture Centre plays Rockman, and by the schools stand, among others, Stefanek by the 1st High School and the newest Dwoinek in front of Primary School No. 2.

What else to see nearby

From the centre it is a short hop to the other districts of the Szlak Jelonków trail: west to the spa district of Cieplice, north to the residential Zabobrze, and towards the mountains to Sobieszów and Jagniątków. You will find all the central deer on the map above.
